Among the high peaks of the Tosco-Emiliano Apennines, nestled in the lush beechwoods, the torrent stream of the Dardagna river flows impetuously. In its flow the river proceeds to create seven beautiful jumps that makeup the scenery of the Dardagna Falls that are a spectacle to be observed regardless of the given season. However, Autumn is certainly the season that best enhances this place as the stream is impetuous thanks to the autumn rains and everything is framed by the beautiful warm colours of autumn that characterize the beech trees and lend the atmosphere an almost enchanted touch.

Trees, leaves, autumn, water, rocks, waterfalls … these are among the comprehensive list of ingredients that provide the landscape photographer with countless insights and ideas, whereby the landscape photographer can moreover also thereby learn new photographic techniques or try others already learned, by trying to apply them in a challenging, new and interesting context.

The workshop shall feature the waterfalls and the autumn colours of the leaves as the main protagonists. We shall have the opportunity to talk about landscape photography and we conduct specific in-depth studies or insights based on the curiosity of the participants. A special mention goes to the topic filters. These accessories, often mistreated and considered superfluous, shall instead be protagonists of our workshop and shall allow us to refine our photographic techniques of long exposure and shall open the doors to our creativity. In particular we shall use the polarizing filter which helps to eliminate annoying reflections and allows you to accentuate contrasts, while at the same time the saturation of colours, the neutral density (ND) filters and lengthening shutter speeds, shall provide for fluid water movement, lending it a soft silky effect.

Inside the Regional Park of Corno alle Scale in the Bolognese Apennines, the meeting point shall be in the resort Madonna dell’Acero (Lizzano in Belvedere BO) where we shall park the cars and setoff on foot for the envisaged places where we shall start. No particular physical preparation is required except for the participants to provide for their autonomy by carrying their own equipment for a walk of about 1 hour with ascents and descents.

Among the main objectives of the workshop is to mediate passion and respect for nature to all participants, and along with my knowledge and experience in the field of photography to make the utmost endeavour to meet the needs of the participants and offer a unique experience.

Granted the very limited number of participants shall allow each participant to be followed in depth, however, this could make it more difficult to provide for a comprehensive mediation of the basics of photography, therefore, in order to derive more enjoyment and benefit from the day, it is highly recommended to show up with a considerable portion of already established novice knowledge of the basics of photography.

The workshop is suitable for those who already have an understanding of the basic camera, i.e. those who know how to use ISO, shutter speeds and aperture and are able to shoot in manual mode.

Having a considerable portion of already established knowledge of these basics of photography shall enable you to make the most of all the photographic opportunities that arise and to better assimilate all the intermediate and advanced concepts that shall be explained during the day.

Photography as an art. Everybody has a different way to represent the same subject

What to bring

Workshop fee

The participation fee is 90 € per person and must be paid in full at the time of booking. In case of non-participation, the amount paid shall not be refunded. In case the event is postponed or cancelled by the organizer, the fee may be retained for a later date or fully refunded according to your preferences. –

The workshop shall not be cancelled based on weather forecasts and shall also be held in the event of “apparently adverse” weather forecasts. The reason is that often the uncertain weather, cloudy and variable, offers better lighting conditions for landscape photography than an almost or completely clear sky with a strong sun.

In any case we shall try to take the best possible pictures with the conditions that we shall have available to us and it shall moreover also constitute an important opportunity for improvement and evolvement thereby mediating to you new and important technical knowledge during the preparation and shooting phase
